I fell in love with this song when I heard it on the American dance programme ‘So you think you can dance’.
It reminded me of a great tip that really helps some students to remember vocabulary. If you are having trouble remembering a word, try associating a movement with that word. Then when you hear that word you’ll think of the movement and remember the meaning! I challenge you to choose five new pieces of vocabulary and give each one a movement. I hope this helps!
Can you tell I’m feeling festive?!
Tomorrow I am going for Christmas dinner with my best friends from my undergraduate degree.
I have no doubt we will be listening to this and many other Christmas songs.
In fact, I used this lesson last Christmas with a private student! Can you complete the gaps with the vocabulary, all of which is related to Christmas?
Good luck & merry Christmas!

This is such a beautiful song. If you haven’t seen the movie ‘Rent’ already then I strongly recommend it. In this lesson I’m going to let you try and hear the vocabulary as it’s all quite simple. Listen carefully!

This song is full of theatre and performing arts related vocabulary, so obviously I love it. I’ve removed all this vocabulary, all you need to do is listen and put the words in the correct gaps.
Note: some of the words are used more than once.

This week’s focus is on music, so here’s an extra song for you. This is a Ne-Yo cover by Fall Out Boy. To make it a bit more challenging, I’m not going to give you the vocabulary this time, so listen carefully. Let me know how you get on.

I chose to use this song for this week’s lessons due to the title. Of course, in reality, teachers never argue...ever. However, there is a massive difference to this lesson. Instead of filling in missing gaps, I’m going to give you some words and you need to find the synonyms (the words with the same meaning) in the lyrics. Good luck!

Ahhh, love. What a ridiculous, terrible, beautiful word! This song is about the more complicated side of love and is by my current favourite artists, Dan Le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip. I have removed some of the key vocabulary; all you need to do is listen and put the correct word in each gap. NOTE: You only need to listen to the first half of the song.
The title of this sentence isn’t actually true, I can’t wait for work and university to start! However, it is one of my favourite songs and has some really interesting idiomatic language and phrasal verbs in the lyrics. I have removed some of the key words and challenge you to try and remember the idiom or phrasal verb to fill in the gap. Then listen to the clip to check your answers. Good luck!
