Our lives can be very influenced _1_ our School experience. Education is a privilege and _2_ of us spend the majority of our childhoods attending a school and learning lots of different things. In England children usually start school at around four years old. We attend infants school first, _3_ age four to eight and then junior school until age eleven. At both of these, emphasis is placed on learning through play. There are no set 'lessons' and children work on different projects over periods of time. For example, they _4_ learn about the 'Egyptians' and as a part of this subject, study the history, make mini pyramids and draw hieroglyphics. Unfortunately it seems like every year more and more pressure is being put on children of this age as they are forced to _5_ exams and bring back homework. Many disagree with these aspects of education but are unable to change the system.
At eleven, children progress onto secondary school or 'high school'. Here they take lessons in many different subjects, the most important of which are considered to be English, maths and science. They are also put into 'sets' and taught with children who are considered to have the same academic abilities. For many years, when the child _6_ sixteen years of age, they were required to take 'GCSE's'. These are exams in many different subjects and can be taken in subjects that are thought to be less academic such as drama, dance and even photography. However, this is set to change and the GCSE system is about to be replaced by something called the 'EBacc'. The EBacc aims to steer students away from less academic subjects and only certain disciplines will count towards this exam. Many argue that this will lead _7_ those students considered less academic to leave high school with fewer qualifications. It could also affect those children whose strengths lie in the arts and creativity.
